Jay-Z + Radiohead = Jaydiohead ?
Published on January 6th, 2009

jaydiohead

I’m still not completely sure what I think of this, but someone has taken Jay-Z rhymes and mashed them up with some Radiohead songs. First impression I find it pretty interesting because I like both artists… but the more I listen, the better I think they could have done with these. I mean if you are going to take two of the greatest artists, in their respective genre, of this time at least get some better album art!

Otl Aicher – 1972 Munich Olympics
Published on December 31st, 2008

Otl Aicher

Otl Aicher, also known as Otto Aicher, was a German graphic designer who designed the 1972 Munich Olympics event design. This is probably one of my favorite branding because it is so consistent through out every piece. The typography is timeless and the designs for each piece are unique to their own sport but are stylized with confidence in color and composition.

Take a look at Otl Aicher on Flickr.

Band of Brothers
Published on December 28th, 2008

Band of Brothers

I have a short attention span. Packed in 6 discs, I watched over 12 hours of this HBO series and I have to admit… I was hooked and couldn’t stop watching episode after episode. It was almost similar to my addiction to LOST. Band of Brothers is so intense, so real, I felt like I was a brother right there with them. Band of Brothers, directed by Tom Hanks and Produced by Steven Spielberg, is based on a true story that follows Easy Company, an airborne paratrooper company, from boot camp to the beaches of Normandy all the way to Germany in World War 2. This series brings to light the dark side to war and some of the bright side. Before each episode they interview actual members of Easy Company and they talk about their real life experiences. I definitely have much more of an appreciation for our troops after having watched this.

I cannot necessarily say I specifically like action or war movies but this one does it for me. Two thumbs up! As you can see from the past couple posts I did a LOT of movie watching over the holidays… so relaxing!

Jason Bourne 4

Jason Bourne 4

I just finished watching the whole Bourne series and I have to admit, they are one of my favorite action/conspiracy movies. I think they have the perfect combination of action, drama, technology, guns, car chases etc. Aftrer watching The Bourne Ultimatum it left me feeling like they were going to make another movie. Sure enough after a little bit of Google search I found that they have announced an Untitled Jason Bourne Project that is slated to come out in 2010.

12th Street by Cynthia Vincent
Published on December 24th, 2008

I had a photo shoot yesterday and came away with this shot. This was my first time working with a fan! It was pretty fun, and loud. This was taken in our photo studio and I used a combination of four lights. I had two large soft boxes left and right as kickers, one AB800 in a 22″ beauty dish that to camera right and up high, and then I had a ABR ringflash mounted on camera.

See more at my photography site Ryan Strong Photography.

Standard Social – Teaser Video
Published on December 23rd, 2008

So I shot this video with a consumer digital camera while out and about the city with the crew this past Thursday night. It is a promo teaser for Standard Social, an entertainment/event outlet for Standard Style Boutique.

I brought the footage into iMovie HD and quickly learned how to edit on the spot… I was pretty satisfied with it for my first attempt. I wish I had Adobe Premiere to edit with! Oh and a Canon 5d MKII to shoot with :)

It was fun documenting the night and interesting to look back at it.

Baldovino Barani Photography

Amazing high fashion photography by Baldovino Barani! I’m shocked at how candid the setting looks but when you put in a high fashion model in there that’s been retouched and leave the background it makes things seem so surreal yet familiar.
